Week Beginning Work Completed

Summer Holidays During the summer, I had a look at a range of music magazines, and analysed different aspects of each page.

Monday 8th September Monday: I started my logbook researching Q magazine and thought of an idea for my magazine.

Monday 15th September Learnt about a range of shot types. I decided to analyse ‘Vibe’ magazine by looking at codes and conventions.

Monday 22rd September On this day I learnt about different theories. I concentrated on two theories that were: Maslow, Katz and Hartley’s seven subjectivities. Once this was done we looked at an audience profile sheet about our preferable music magazine.

Monday 29th September We looked at many aspects that would make my school magazine look as eye catching as possible. I had to think of a name that will suit the target audience, so I decided to pick ‘Swizstar’ for my masthead. I then started by drawing a draft for my preliminary task.

Monday 6th October I then opened Photoshop and started making my front cover of my magazine. I added many conventions such as the colour scheme, masthead (Swizstar) and social networking (Facebook and Twitter).

Monday 13th October I carried on improving on the front cover.Monday 20st October This was deadline day and I had to make sure that my front cover was

completed with all the codes and conventions I wanted to include.Half Term

Monday 3th November This lesson we learnt about the exam.Monday 10th November Monday: I made a hand drawn draft for my preliminary contents

page. I looked at a magazine to see what was needed for a contents page. Once this was completed I started to create my contents page on Photoshop.

Monday 17th November This was a continuation on last Monday and I was starting to add conventions such as the sub heading, competition and the categories. There were still some imperfections that needed some work, so I decided to go during lunchtime.

Monday 24th November At this stage I wrote an editors letter for my contents page and added an image of myself to make it look more professional. I still had to tweak some aspects of my preliminary task, and so I will be making

sure that during my free period I resolve the situation.Monday 1nd December On Monday we moved on to the main task, the music magazine. Before

I went on to Photoshop, I made a spider diagram on names for my music magazine. However, I decided to stick to the name ‘Swizstar’ as I felt the name was really good and suited a music magazine. I then looked at a range of fonts, and found a font that was suitable. So, at this stage I was prepared to start off my front page.

Monday 8th December I went on to Photoshop and started off my front cover. I was able to complete a good amount of work, by finishing off the colour scheme (black and red) as well as conventions such as the masthead, social networks and strapline for my final music magazine. At this point, I had to decide on a logo as well as some cover lines for my front cover. Furthermore, I added more conventions such as the puff (competition) and an image.

Monday 15th December I started on the contents page for my music magazine. Before I went on to Photoshop, I made a hand drawn draft by looking at my music magazine of inspiration. Once I completed this I opened Photoshop and started creating my contents page. I added codes simplistic codes such as my logo and page numbers. I then added headings to make it look as organised as possible.

Christmas Holidays

Monday 5th January I carried on with my contents page. By making progressions on the editors letter as well as adding content on each column.

I had to use the ‘Pen Tool’ to create the editors letter in which I found very difficult at first, however I became much better as time went by. Moreover, I told one of my peers to take a photo of me and I encoded it into my contents page, and also I added my own signature. I continued on my contents page during lunch by making sure that my cover lines were laid out correctly. Also, I added an image of my role model on to the contents page.

Monday 12th January I made all the necessary corrections for my contents page. I then went straight on to my double page spread, by drawing a sketch of what I wanted it to look like. I cropped and inserted the main image of my model into the DPS. I then used the guidelines to help me structure the pages.

Monday 19th January Additionally, I added more factors such as the interview of my story that took most of my double lesson. So, I decided to come back during lunch and keep my DPS up to date.

Monday 9th February I finally completed my double page spread, and so I started to create my blog. I did this by writing out the brief and added my logbook by using Slideshare.

Monday 16th February Monday: I had to finish my evaluation pages by analyzing the different pages that is from the front page to the DPS.

Monday 23 February At this point, I had to concentrate on my blog, so I decided to add the images for each section of the blog page.

Monday 2nd March I went back to my logbook PowerPoint and finished off analyzing each page for my music magazine.

I completed a few more answers for my evaluation, and I had to ensure that my answers were in depth and as coherent as possible. I continued on my evaluation and I was on question 3, and so I had to research a bit more on the publisher of my music magazine Vibe.

Monday 23rd March Finally, I completed my coursework and made all the necessary changes to the blog page. I have also made sure that all the aspects such as the research and evaluation is at its best.
