Circulatory system
Heart Blood vessels
The heart
• Pump that moves the blood around the body• It is a muscular organ.• It is made of 4 chambers(rooms).
Pulse
• Is a measure of how fast your heart is beating (It is the number of beats your heart makes in one minute)
• N.B The heart beats faster or slower depending on what we are doing.
How can we measure pulse?
• You can feel your pulse at certain points on your body . The easiest pace to feel it is in your wrist :
• 1)Use the first two fingers of your other hand.• 2)Count the number of beats your heart makes in one
minute.
Average heart beat is about 80 beats/min.
ExerciseHeart rate increase (because your muscles are working
harder and need more oxygen to keep going and your lungs also work harder to get more
oxygen)
SleepHeart rate
decreases(because your muscles need less
oxygen , so your heart sows down)
Stethoscope
• Instrument used by doctors to listen to noises in our chest
( It funnels the sound into the ears and cuts out other noises)
