WHY WE MIGHT LIKE THIS CHANGE…

Environmentally Responsible – LEED Certification

LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Page 23: 1331 l street transition (new)

WHY WE MIGHT LIKE THIS CHANGE…

Why does LEED Certification matter?– LEED Certification tells our peers, clients and

customers, that our building's sustainable features have been verified by a third party to promote energy conservation, to ensure a healthier indoor environment and to reduce our building’s impact on the environment.

LEED Scoring System– In LEED 2009 there are 100 possible

base points plus an additional 6 points for Innovation in Design and 4 points for Regional Priority. Buildings can qualify for four levels of certification:

• Certified - 40 - 49 points • Silver - 50 - 59 points • Gold - 60 - 79 points • Platinum - 80 points and above

We purchased a Gold LEED Certified building and we are building out at the Platinum level.
