LESSON TEMPLATE

Curricular Statement: Develop different dimensions of knowledge, attitude and process

skills through lecture method, group discussion and evaluation by questioning participation in

group and group activities.

Content analysis

Term : Electrolysis of water

Fact : 1.During electrolysis , water changes into its constituent elements, i.e., Hydrogen and

Oxygen

2. Electricity is needed for the Electrolysis of water

Concept : 1. Electrolysis is the process where electricity is passes through water to produce

its components.

Instructional Objectives : 1. The pupil acquires knowledge, understanding ,application

about above mentioned facts and concepts

2. To assimilate ideas and information meaningfully.

3. To strengthen the cognitive structure about the concept.

Name of the teacher : Enet D’cruz STD : VIII

Name of the school : MGD GIRLS kundara Str : 40/45

Subject : Chemistry Date :

Topic : Electrolysis of water Duration : 45 minites

4. Developing process skills such as observing , communicating and

Discussing.

Social system : The teacher has the control of the intellectual structure during the first

two phases. It is highly structured. But during the third phase more

Interaction occurs.

Principle of reactions : The teacher reacts to the pupil response by the way of giving

Clarification And helping them to recouncilate with existing

Knowledge.

Entry behavior : Pupil knows about the components of water.

Supporting System :Chart , Activity card

Classroom interaction procedure

We studied about different types of reactions .What

are they? Today we are going to study about another

type of reactions .It is known as electrolysis of water.

What are the components of water? How can you

separate the components of water? Do you know any

method of separation? Through electrolysis of water ,

we can separate the components of water.

A wire is connected to the nickel coated iron nails. The

two iron nails are fixed with the help of wax in the

beaker. A small amount of acid is added to the water.

An inverted test tubes with placed above the roads.

The end of the wire is connected with a battery. Then

we can see that small bubbles are coming through the

test tube. Take the test tubes from the beaker and

show a burning splinter in the mouth of the test tube .

A pop sound is produced when the splinter is shown to

the test tube ‘B’. The splinter burns brightly when it is

shown to the test tube ‘A’. i.e., the gas produced in ‘A’

is OXYGEN and the gas produced in ‘B’ is HYDROGEN.

1. What are the components of water?

2. Which gas collected in A?

3. Which gas collected in B?

4. What is the name of the reaction?

Teacher asks the pupil to recollect the whole class and

try to make them reproduce it correctly.

Review:

1. What influence the separation of components from water?

2. What is the name of the reactions?

3. Which gas produced in test tube B?

Follow up activity :

Find out the situations where electrolysis make use of?
