• If a recruiter states ‘apply in writing’, this usually means sending a resume and covering letter.

• You may be asked to send a resume with an application form.

• An online recruitment website may ask you to submit a resume in order to match you against suitable jobs.

• You may wish to make a speculative application to an organisation which hasn’t formally advertised a position.

• You may want to hand it out to organisations at re-cruitment fairs.

Why might we need one?

*British people do not say ‘resume’. Instead we say ‘CV’.
