Introduction to ITES Industry ITES stands for Information Technology-enabled
services – also commonly referred to as BPO
Non-core activities are handled by third-party vendors
This may also involve ‘off-shoring’ – a term referred to getting work done from other countries where cheap labour is available, example: India, Philippines, etc
Provides employment opportunities to youngsters
Income from Export of Services - Source of Foreign Exchange to the developing economies

Investments – An Overview Definition – Depositing money to generate additional
income over a period of time through various avenues
Options – Equity, Mutual Funds, Government Bonds, Fixed Deposits, Real Estate, Precious Metals, etc

This study focuses on employees of ITES Industry – a growing industry – predominantly employs youngsters
To understand how the ‘Finance’ is being managed
To understand investment avenues chosen
To do an analysis on their preference of investments
Take experts’ opinion and suggest the various investment opportunities available

Research Methodology We prepared a ‘questionnaire’ – a popular data
collection tool to get the answers to our questions
This questionnaire was floated to ITES employees based at Bangalore on a ‘random sample’ basis
Sample size of 202 employees have been covered
Limitations: Project members are working & time devoted to this project was lesser
Data Analysis Tools: Charts have been prepared & Percentage basis have been considered to do the analysis and arrive at the conclusions

Interpretation – Chart 1 This chart provides the information on the
percentage of salary being invested
23% of our respondents have investments less than 5% of their pay package
24% of our respondents invest 15% to 25% of salary
37% of our respondents invest between 5% to 15% of their salary

Interpretation – Chart 2 This chart focuses on the preferred mode of
investment – none of the instrument is most preferred among our respondents
Insurance (24%) & Fixed Deposits (22%) – preferred
Though a majority (53% to be precise) of our respondents had a medium-risk profile, only 10% preferred Mutual Funds
Only a meager 5% invest directly in Equity markets

Findings & Suggestions Everyone needs to save for the future. Saving more
should translate to investing more
Financial awareness has to be spread
As Equity is known for good capital appreciation, having equity exposure through investing in Mutual Funds by utilizing the SIP option to be considered

investment to create a second income.
Spending: If you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.
Savings: Don’t save what is left after spending but spend what is left after savings.
Taking Risk: Never test the depth of the river with both feet.
Investment: Don’t put all your eggs in a single basket.
