Northern Coalfields Limited a subsidiary company of Coal India Ltd Headquarter is located at Singrauli Madhya Pradesh. The Coalfield can be divided into two basins, 1) Moher Sub-Basin: 312 Sq. Km. 2) Singrauli Basin: 1890 Sq. Km. Major part of the Moher Sub-Basin lies.

NCL is the only subsidiary of Coal India Ltd producing 100% of coal from opencast mines. There is steep rise in the coal demand on NCL to meet the power energy needs of the country 66.25 MT in 2010-11 to 66.40 MT 2011-2012. The Coal India Ltd production level in the year 2011-2012 is projecting as 619.67 MT out of which NCL Contribution will be 70.02 MT, NCL produce of Coal 70.02 MT in 2012-2013

India and the world largest coal miner with revenue exceeding 624.14 Billion FY. 2012. Coal India Ltd single largest coal producing in the world. Coal India Ltd Is apex body with 7 wholly owned coal producing subsidiaries company spread over 8 provisional state of India

HistoryIn order to provide for a higher growth in coal sector to meet the growing energy needs of the country the Government in 1973 nationalized the coal mines by enacting the Coal Nationalization Act. Our company was incorporated as a private limited company with name “Coal Mines Authority Limited” and after that 9 July 1973, Act certain nationalized coal mines were vested in our company by the Central Government. There after in 1975 Department of Coal Ministry of Energy, GOI, with a view to integrate and streamline the structural set up the manner 27 September 1975 providing for the re-organization of Coal Ministry Authority Limited as Coal India Limited, which was to responsible for the entire coal mining sector owned and controlled by the Central Government.

NCL is the subsidiary of Coal India Limited producing 100% Coal from opencast mines.

Since inception NCL has show overall in all spheres Coal production increased from 13.4 MT 1986-87 to 70.02 MT 2012-2013

The sale and capital employee have increased so maintain the position
