theChanner TV goes social

Mobile live television

ChallengeCurrent models for television viewing are not designedaround an individual TV viewer’s tastes and sensibilities. Instead of catering to an individual, programming is tunedtoward markets, ratings and primetime television spots.

theChannerTV changes this model, putting it on its head.theChannerTV’s model is about the next television to come, where an individual’s television programming is user-centricand interactive, allowing viewers to play a main role.

With theChannerTV, broadcasters can finally connect withtheir audience, reaching their viewers over their mobilephones, while simultaneously learning more about them.

SolutionWith theChannerTV, users are given a mobile softwareplatform that enables them to watch live TV over theInternet on their mobile phone. Through the platform, individual users and broadcasters can connect over theirmobile, further identifying an individual’s viewing tastes andpreferences.

ResultstheChannerTV offers broadcasters and content-providers anovel and effective way to reach their specific mobileaudience, and in doing so, it provides them with aneffective model to monetize their content offering. Moreover, by connecting broadcasters directly with TVviewers, theChannerTV allows broadcasters to meet theirindividual viewers’ needs by providing them with preferredcontent. For TV viewers, theChannerTV cuts out the middleman andallows them to take control of their programming byhelping them to identify compelling programming fromaround the world.

ABN AMRO / Dialogues Incubator http://www.dialoguesincubator.nl Amsterdam, NL VC Mr. Jaspar Roos Business development manager

Member of the ABN AMRO family since August 2007, the Dialogues Incubator was conceived to create value in a fast paced society, with the 21st century edge it requires. We stand for business cooperation, innovation and sustainable responsibility. Our goal is to utilize the potential at hand to launch a multitude of new companies, that will help a different sort of economy grow: one that genuinely is socially, environmentally and economically sustainable. Our present economy has proven that it is none of these. We are looking to go beyond the traditional role of an incubator service, which implies either consultancy or corporate venturing alone. Other than providing end-to-end support for business concepts and entrepreneurs, we aim to connect entrepreneurs with established businesses and teach them skills necessary to create sustainable ventures. Development in the Dialogues Incubator is a collaborative, action-learning approach that maximizes value for the people, profitability and the environment.

Orange. • Its competitors are Internet companies, from global giants to start-ups. • Its team is a group of focused, interdependent specialists, connected to the world

ecosystem from a secluded compound south of Paris. • Its strength is its close collaboration with other companies within the Orange Group. Orange Vallée is structured around project departments, led by senior or junior project managers. They have the freedom to create and tap into Orange’s superb technology resources; in return, they have the responsibility to bring their products and services to the market. They are thus directly answerable to customers’ demands.

Our customers are not just «geeks» and trendsetters. Many of our projects aim at serving the wider public, by simplifying the use of new technologies. Our customers now have 4 screens and 4 content gateways: PCs, mobile phones, TVs and mobile screens. The intention is to launch each project on one of these screens, then extend it to the other 3. There are a dozen projects in progress. The target markets may be French, European or global. Products and services that appeal to our customers will be launched with all of Orange’s marketing power. Orange Vallée currently employs 30 people directly, who work in collaboration with 300 Orange Group staff; half of these people work in Orange Labs, mainly in France, the USA or China. Apart from Orange Labs, Orange Vallée is intimately connected with other Orange innovation hubs: the techno centre and content department, as well as Orange marketing and technology specialists in countries where we operate. 70% of our ecosystem is based in France.
