Monitoring and study the regional labour market

First of all, some preliminary consideration…

There are several sources of information Statistical /official sources (Census, Labour Force

Survey…) and administrative sources (from different institutions and not universal) are available

Not always data on labour market are easily usable The dialogue between sources is not easy, but possible,

however specific skills are required

N.B. Studying the labour market… central role of definitions and legal provisions. They are essential to analyze and understand data.

At regional level, administrative data on the labour market used by Veneto Lavoro…

Administrative database of the Labour market Information System of Veneto (Silv), used by operators of the employment agencies.

Silv database stores and organizes data related to:

- Companies and workers registries- Work relationships and associated movements- Occupational status- Enrollment in “unemployment lists” or “labor mobility lists”

The information system is continuously implemented by the compulsory communications system (Co) – both regional and national onesThe level of detail goes to district level (single Employment offices).

Which data?

Mainly data on employees (not independent professionals) - Employment (open-ended contract, fixed-term contract, apprenticeship, temporary employment) ref. “standard”- domestic work, job on call, collaborations, work experiencesFlow data (but also some stock are obtainable) - hiring, conclusions, contractual changesDaily data (on the basis)Several variables for the analysis - demographic characteristics of workers (sex, nationality, age), sector (Ateco classification), professions, territory, type of contract, …
