Using programmers or timers

Using the right heating controls to keep your home at a comfortable temperature will reduce your carbon footprint and help you save on your heating bills.

A programmable room thermostat allows you to set different temperatures for different times of the day and programme different heat circuits.

If you leave your heating on constantly, you will typically consume more fuel than only turning it on when you need it. That’s because some heat loss will always occur due to the difference between the temperature outside your house and the temperature you are trying to maintain on the inside.

Installing radiator reflector panels

A significant amount of the heat generated by your radiators is absorbed into your walls. By placing radiator foil between the radiator and the wall, you can reflect the heat back into the room.

Heatkeeper radiator insulation panels claim to save you up to 30% on your heating costs.

Radiator Tips

Make sure your radiators are performing to the best of their ability by not placing furniture close to them, not using radiator concealing cabinets and ensuring curtains and draperies are kept clear.

The lighter the radiator the more heat it will give out, making white radiators the most efficient. It is estimated that a white radiator is 17% more efficient than a Chrome radiator.
