Structured Finance Deal Automation

Harrier 10

End to end automation of Structured Finance Deal rating process.

We developed a 3-tier web based system, client as a desktop application in C#, business logic residing in ASP.NET web services deployed on IIS and data stored in MS SQL server database. The client application uses Farpoint spread control for user interface, similar to MS office (Word, excel, Power point). The process automated is as follows:• Receiving portfolio data from client• Data analysis, Work flow• Integration of rating system with surveillance system• Sending out rating rationale to the client

Business Benefits• 50% reduction in time to rate regular deals• 35% reduction in time to rate complex deals• Fully automated report generation: Rating note, Rationale rating

letter, Press release• Module level data locking

Technologies: C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, MS SQL Server, IIS, Farpoint Spread control, DSO Framer

Surveillance Database Automation

Harrier 11

Client’s surveillance team has to monitor regularly (monthly) the performance of the securitized pool to ensure that it is in line with the rating it has awarded. Earlier all data pertaining to the performance of these deals was maintained in Excel sheets. For drawing conclusions or performing comparison between various deals, data was pulled out manually from these excel sheets. With the increase in number of such deals, maintain data in XL and performing various functions became very tedious and error prone.

Harrier developed a 3 tier web based system, client as a desktop application in C#, business logic residing in ASP.NET web services deployed on IIS and data stored in MS SQL server 2000 database. The client application used Farpoint spread control for user interface to be similar to that of MS excel. Following are the key features of the solution - • Automated quarterly reports publication; reduced report publication time from 25 days to 1 day• Alert to surveillance team for an unfavorable performance displayed by a deal.• Maintain information system (MIS) for monthly reports due but not received from trustee• Auto update of report status• Auto generation of ratios necessary to track the performance of a deal• Run queries for comparison between deals

Technologies: C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, MS SQL Server, IIS, Farpoint Spread control, DSO Framer

Equity Research & Industry Analysis

Harrier 12

Replace the existing front end client server presentation system for equity research product with a web based system.

We developed an open source, freely distributable and secured web based system with following capabilities: • Auto update: The front end system at the client end automatically updates itself with the latest released

content for the subscribed services. It opens up a connection to the server and download the content using HTTP protocol to avoid firewall issues.

• Full text search: Used ready made open source component called Lucene for full text search in the system • Encryption of content: Encrypt the content using classes from Java Crypto package and is de-crypted before

presenting to the user • A more presentable analysis of market & Industry events.• Faster and lower cost of operations

Used freely distributable database management system (PostgreSQL, BSD license) to save licensing cost per client.
