members against unfair labour practices and discrimination.Trade unions

promote industrial peace and economic development

Aituc is the first central trade union which came into

existence in India and it was formed by the Indian

National Congress and now it's with Communist party.

Aituc is governed by a body headed by National

President Ramendra Kumar and General Secretary

Gurudas Dasgupta .( they belong to communist party)

Aituc is affiliated with the World Federation of Trade

Unions.By the World War 2 the communist had gained

complete controls over the federation.

Main objectives of AITUC :

To socialise and nationalise the means of

production,distribution and exchange

To improve the social and economic conditions.

To promote the interests and rights of its members.

To secure and maintain freedom of

speech,press,association,right for strikes(important)

To stand against social oppression, injustice and harassment

surrounding women at their workplace.

INTUC(Indian National Trade Union

Congress)

INTUC is the biggest trade union since

independence.

Government of india declared INTUC as most

representative union of India.

To promote generally the social civic and political interest of

the working class

HMS(Hind Mazdoor Sabha)

HMS was formed by the socialists who neither approved

of AITUC nor INTUC.

It’s members are mostly from cotton textiles,railways,

To keep its members free from political and outside

interference.

UTUC

(United Trade Union

Congress)

UTUC was formed by the dissatisfiers of HMS and INTUC .

UTUC is non-communist, radical and anti-communist.

It is politically supported by forward block.

There was a split and now it is UTUC(LS) and UTUC.

To promote and protect the rights,interests of workers.

Bring unity and maintain freedom in various sectors.

Facilitate youth employment.

Maintain a good relationship among employers,employees

and the government.

BMS

(Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh)

BMS is not affiliated to any International Trade Union

Confederation

Politically affiliated to BJB.

It has over 8.3 million members.

It is dominated by conservative hindus

Main Objectives :

To use manpower in the most efficient way thereby

promoting maximum employment and production.

To assist workers in forming trade unions

To preserve better working conditions and lifestyle for

the workers.

CITU( Centre of Indian Trade Union)

Supported by CPM -communist party of india

Militant in nature (agressive)

The marxsists separated separated from the AITUC and

formed CITU.

Objectives :

Fight against the encroachments (intrusion) on the economic and social

rights on the workers

To promote Enlargement of their right to strike.

CITU works against the repressive policy of government .

NLO

(National Labour Organisation)

The dissatisfiers of INTUC formed the NLO.

NFITU (National Front of Indian Trade Union)
