y Zines are historically independent publications produced at little to no cost to the creator- with theintention of free or inexpensive distribution and sale.

y The originally sprang out of the idea of the fanzineand were large in the underground punk movements of the late 70s and early 80s.

y Later they would be instrumental in not only music,

but in underground political movements in the UnitedStates and abroad.
