Deaf, blind and speech impaired, but an expert!
Zamir Dhale
Deaf by birth and losing vision at age of nine, Zamir hails from Nasik and is working as a consultant. He is proficient in tactile signing language and can communicate easily.
While most people wait outside "Jalsa" for hours to get a glimpse of the Big B, Zamir spent three full months with Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee helping them to practice their roles in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's national award-winning movie Black.
Though, he is Deaf-Blind, Zamir is tech savvy, always found on Whatsapp and Facebook. He communicates with his Laptop/Mobile, equipped with special software (Pac Mate). He has undergone several years of basic training in life skills and communication at the Helen Keller Institute for the Deaf-Blind in Mumbai and then went on to acquire higher qualifications.
As the Advocacy Officer of Sense International (SI-India), the only NGO in the country working for persons with multi-sensory impairment, he is used to travelling independently and meeting people across the world.
