Welcome to the first come-back issue of the JRM Youthlink. Wepray that every edition of this magazine would serve its purposein this generation.

Every youth encounters troubles in some points of his/her life. Some are allowed by our Lord Jesus to cause pruning and achanging in character for us to become more Christ-like. Butthere are those that are self-inflicted through disobedience andunwillingness to submit to God. The two words are ofteninterchanged, but they are actually essentially different.Disobedience deals with not doing the things one is asked to do while unsubmission defines to one's unwillingness to obey. John Bevere further explains in his book Under Cover that

obedience deals with our responsive actions toward authority and submission deals with our attitude towards authority. Its inthe latter where most of us miss it.

Isaiah 1:19 (ESV) says, If you arewilling and obedient , you shalleat the good of the land (italics mine). God's promises aretrue. However, most want the blessings of God but few want therequirements of the blessing, as quoted from the pulpit.

    I will leave two questions which, I hope you wouldnot take as condemning but rather challenging.First, are the JRM Youthobedient to God? Ands e c o n d , d o t h e y r e c o g n i z e G o d ' sdelegated authority?

    God's blessing be yours!3

LASTDECEMBER6, 2008, during a meeting in my NSTP class, the class agreedon having a Christmas party the following Saturday. As the president of the class, I volunteered to take care of the event. I was thinking of kuyaKent to facilite a program that would not only entertain the class butwould also highlight Christ and present the true meaning of Christmas. Icontacted Kuya Kent and asked for his help. Well, with no hesitations, hesaid yes. We brainstormed many times and rackedour brains when alone to come up with a solidprogram. And by God's grace, we had. Kuya Kent askedsome sponsors to help in funding the raffle and theprizes that he had planned to give during the party.People gave without hesitation. I want to thank them.

We spent nights praying and interceding so that the upcoming eventwould have a solid foundation. If we will do it without prayer it would bein vain the Christmas party will just be another activity of no eternalvalue. It would mean nothing to my classmates and to us. This is God'sactivity, not ours, I thought.

The night before December 13 2008, Ate Tin told Kuya Kent that shewants to go with us and support us in this mission. So, we all agreed to

    meet.

    December 13, 2008

IT'S FIGHT DAY! The waiting time was kind of exciting and long but fine(laughs). I, together with Kuya Kent andAte Tin, arrived in the university at past 1o'clock. We were thrilled when wepassed by the guardhouse. The guardsdidn't question us or called our attention. We talked with my professor regardingthe program and we received a 'go signal.

After introducing K.K. and Ate Tin to theclass, they took the floor. We played

games like charade-pass-the-message, jumbling the Christmas Seasonphrase, and I thank God for your life because . . . fill in the blanks. Weall had fun during the game. Prizes were given to the winners.

After the games had ended, weproceeded with our program. Kuya Kentshared the true meaning of Christmas andthe reason for the season. My classmateswere very attentive and they listenedeagerly to what he was saying. Thank Godfor His anointing upon Kuya Kent. He didn't

have mental blocks and shared things fromhis heart without hesitation. Afterwards,we rendered song numbers. Actually hewas supposed to sing just one song but myclassmates requested for another so hesung again. It was great and meaningful. Then, after having our 'eating session'done, we gave the floor to our professor forher remarks. We closed the party with aprayer which I led and greeted everyone a "Merry Christmas!" Afterwhich, we said our goodbyes. So that's almost everything that hadhappened in the party. We hope that God would use this kind of event toreally establish His kingdom in our universities and workplaces.

All I could say is thatwe must never s topplanting seeds, whether it

is a small seed or a big one.Always remember, seedswhen planted on good soil(Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23),would most likely sprout. And never be discouragedw h e n s e e d s a r e n ' tsprouting. Why? Becauseyour act of planting for thekingdom of God is never inva in in His eyes (1

Corinthians 15:58, Colossians 3:23-24). May God bless you and keep you.Just abide in the vine so that you may have a life that is abundant andoverflowing not just physically, but also spiritually. And may the fire inyour heart, the very life that is in you be so contagious that it would leadothers to draw near to God. God bless you!

THE YOUTH IS the most prophesied yet the most attacked generation of this time. Not onlyfrom the pulpit that pronouncement is made, one could see the truth in those words in

today's society. The media attest to the deterioration of moral values which were oncecherished by the earlier generations. Moral corruption becomes rampant as Christianvalues are scoffed at and decadence applauded. These and other misleadingworldviews brought confusion to the youth. What is life? Where do all these things lead to? Why on earth am I here? What is the purpose of life?

Jasz Lintag, former staff of the Youth Ministry, testifies that an abundant life is onethat is being lived for God's glory. Any other lifestyle leads to emptiness andmeaninglessness. She tells how serving God through the youth ministry could besomething that could be treasured forever.

Jasz shares her life, experiences and lessons with the JRM YouthLink.

Lord, all I want is You! All I really want is You! You are my heart's desire and it is You that I want because my soul is made for You.However, there are times that my heart would run after those things which I think w o u l d g i v e m e satisfaction. But Dad,I want to say now, my heart is Thine! It is for You alone, its joy could only be found in You.

Would You please strengthen my heart, that whenever i t would crave for the wrong thing, it would still have the courage and faith to go back to its true delight and that is You Lord. You are my exceeding joy! Lord You are! And I am Thine, I am Thine!

LAST FEBRUARY 21, 2009, PLM Firebrands(PLMF) held its campus harvest event at the

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM)Gusaling Intramuros AVR1 with the theme MoreThan A Survivor: Persevere. Live. Make adifference. The event kicked-off with KentResurreccion as the host. The students fromdifferent courses and year levels broke the ice withMoshi-moshi and I'm Here because You'reHere games. After watching the film The Climb,Jeff Lintag shared God's word. The guests werevery receptive. Why are we here? We are here becauseof you, he tells them. Each one had the chance tospeak up and be led in prayer through the smallgroupings. Consolidators also reinforced what hadbeen said by the speaker about having a relationshipwith the Lord Jesus Christ. Every person in theroom witnessed the mighty move of God startingfrom the preparations and even more during the

gathering itself. All were blessed and hadexperienced joy and gave their utmost praise to God.

If a person knows a very important truth, deciding to share or not to share it could mean life ordeath to another. This generation is the mostpromised yet it is the most attacked one as we canquote from the pulpit. These are the very reasonswhy the truth of salvation through Jesus Christ isbeing shared especially among the youth of today.Campus ministries bring light to the places wherelife is perceived to be purposeless. PLMF and thewhole campus Firebrands pray that the seed thatwas planted in the students' hearts would reallygrow, all for the glory of God. God's blessing beyours!

When I became a Christian, one Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in thefundamental lesson I learned is giving Lord and He will give you the desiresto God's kingdom. I learned that God of your heart.wants to bless His children eventhrough finances. The Bible says inMatthew 6:24, No one can serve twomasters, for either he will hate the oneand love the other, or he will be

devoted to the one and despise theother. You cannot serve God andmoney. More so, the enemy, Satan, doesn't want us to give to the Lord because he knew that God has apromise of blessing to those whocheerfully give (see Malachi 3:10). So Idecided to make my finances serve the

Lord. It also serves as a training before Igraduate and enter into the corporateworld. I wanted my heart to be fullysubmitted even in this matter becauseWhere your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:21) .This is practically true in terms ofinvesting your money in a business or a

stock. You will be tracking where yourmoney goes, how does the companymake it grow, how much interest isyour finances gaining, and so on. Yourheart will be inclined to where yourtreasure is and I wanted my own to beinclined towards God's work like
