MANGROVESTASI is mangrove planting programme for future conservation investment by KOMPAS Daily young readers community, KOMPAS MuDA
BACKGROUND
KOMPAS MuDA (MuDA means young in Indonesia) is a special secTon dedicated to young readers in KOMPAS Daily.
Since its first published on 2007, KOMPAS MuDA has been maintaining its solid community by holds numbers of acTviTes which are fun yet educaTve and creaTvity-‐challenged.

BACKGROUND
Knowing the mangrove condiTon in Indonesia is currently in endangered condiTon, KOMPAS Daily challenged its community to take real ac7on in c o n s e r v i n g t h e ma n g r o v e ecosystem.
Hence, KOMPAS Daily and KOMPAS MuDA community a iming to spreading the spirit of conserving the nature by involve in real venture.

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
PROGRAM IN BRIEF KOMPAS Daily commenced mangrove conservaTon programme together with KOMPAS Daily young reader community, KOMPAS MuDA. Following the mangrove planTng programme, KOMPAS MuDA also held T-‐shirt design and poster design CompeTTon.

• Improving young reader’s awareness about the importance of preserving mangrove ecosystems
• Coaching young readers to increase economic empowerment through creaTvity

• Enhance brand awareness and brand image of KOMPAS and KOMPAS MuDA among Indonesian potenTal readers
detail activitiesThis is divided into three treatment, that is : the pre-‐event, main event and post event.
• It started with print ad publicaTon of MANGROVESTASI published on KOMPAS Daily
• T-‐shirt and Poster design compe77on is ini7ated on pre-‐event
• InviTng Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry and Environmental to collaborate in this program

RESULTS• 3.308 high school student parTcipated in sharing session by KOMPAS Daily and also excited to join mangrove planTng program
• 80 KOMPAS MuDA volunteers parTcipate in this event
• 122 total entries of T-‐shirt design compeTTon
• 142 total entries of Poster design compeTTon entries
• KOMPAS Daily choose three winners from each category (Poster and T-‐shirt)
• Significantly, this programme is conveying good influence to parTcipant who joined it. They not only become more aware about their role in conserving the nature, but also realise they could take part in strengthening financial issues in their neighbourhood
• According to the report wricen by the volunteers that published on KOMPAS Daily, the parTcipant now involved in several creaTve project made of mangrove, such as handicrag and hand made bags from mangrove
