There are an estimated 9 million Armenians around the world. The majority of them live outside Armenia and have significant presence in countries
such as the united States of America, France, Canada, Iran, russia, ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Argentina. The Armenian diaspora
grew considerably during and after the First World War.
The first Armenian known to have to set foot on American soil was Martin the Armenian, who arrived in the Jamestown colony in virginia in either 1618 or 1619.
Today the Armenian community is very active in the united States. They are professionals in the fields of laws, business, academia, medicine, politics, sports, gov-
ernment, and entertainment. True to their nature as intellectually curious merchants and traders, Armenians have been drawn to the continent since the early days
of the American colonies to explore new opportunities.
