Maths
Take every opportunity to practise your Year 1 key
maths skills in as many creative ways you can!
Key Skills:
- Numbers bonds to 10
- Counting to and back from 100
- Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s
- Coin recognition
- Simple addition and subtraction
- Name 2D and 3D shapes
- Understand and spell the days of the week and
months of the year
- Understand measurement (comparing)
- Telling the time (to the hour and half past hour)
- Finding a half and a quarter
Transition ideas
This is the last week of your time in Year 1 and next
year you will be in your new Year 2 class which we hope
you are excited for. Here are a few transition activities
that you can do this week:
- Write down your favourite memories from this
year (attached)
- Write and draw a card for the teachers you are
leaving about your time in Year 1
- Write a letter to your new Year 2 teacher about
how you feel and what you are excited for!
Art In celebration of your growth and your new changes,
this week you can join in with a butterfly art project!
Paint yourself as a butterfly, make a poster or use
arts and crafts! Attached are some lovely ideas.
