COMING TOGETHER – STARTS WITH ME!
Psalm 119:59-60
The plan for the church’s coming together is anchored in Biblical principle. For this phase of our efforts do we launch out from Psalm 119:59-60. The Psalmistnoted four points that are matters that we should note as well as apply that we can be benefitted accordingly. Inventory, direction, urgency, and doing are encouraged from his sharing in the text. It seems appropriate that we consider the same to serve as the stimulus for what we desire to accomplish. Please note that the process begins with us on an individual basis. This is not to dismiss God in any way but it is to suggest that although God has asked of us, we have the option regarding whether or not we respond and if we do how we respond. The four areas of concentration (noted as sections 1-4) herein suggested can serve as the stimulus to accomplishing the solid conditions desired for us to be able to realize our coming together.
SAINTS TAKE A PERSONAL INVENTORY
Psalm 119:59 a Let a man examine himself I Corinthians 11:28Not in man to direct his steps Jeremiah 10:23Prodigal son “came to himself” Luke 15:17
DIRECTION MUST BE GOD INSPIRED / DETERMINED
Psalm 119:59 b(Herein is where accountability is encouraged)
Gospel - power unto salvation Romans 1:16, II Tim 3:16Lamp to our feet Psalm 119:105Blessed - follow the perfect law of liberty James 1:25
THERE MUST BE A SENSE OF URGENCY
Psalm 119:60 aNow is the day of salvation II Corinthians 6:2Work while we can John 9:4 (Night in John 9:4 means death)Listen (Acts 2:37 a heard), Pricked (Acts 2:37 b),Obey (Acts 2:41)
The accomplishment is realized (measured / judged) in the doing
Psalm 119:60 bDo the will of the Father Matthew 7:21Love for God.... Obedience.... I John 5:3Saved if we obey him Hebrews 5:8-9 The doers must be faithful II Timothy 2:2 The measure must include matters of faithfulness. Otherwise how can there be measure? It is vitally important that this plan be deeply rooted in Biblical principles so that we are doing God’s will and not our own!
