WOULD YOU LIKE TO HOST YOUR NEXT TEAM BUILDING IN BRISBANE
IN A $2 BILLION ENTERTAINMENT PRECINCT?
How would you like to conduct your next team building in Brisbanein a massive entertainment
district to be built in the city? AEG-Ogden has announced plans to build an ultra-entertainment
precinct above the Roma Street rail lines.
The AEG subsidiary revealed that the project will cost around $2 billion and will be similar to New
York City’s Madison Square Garden or Melbourne’s Federation Square
What We Know So FarThe project called Brisbane Live, which will be presented to the state government this week, is designed to utilise the connectivity Roma Street
offers to every rail line in the SEQ rail network and the valuable air space above existing rail lines.
It is also expected to benefit from two proposed mass transit projects (Queensland’s Cross River
Rail and Brisbane’s Brisbane Metro), both of which will have stations to be built along Roma Street and the ability to transport thousands of
people in and out of the precinct in just minutes.
As part of the massive project, which is based on AEG’s LA Live complex, a world-class arena with
a seating capacity of 17,000 and costing $450 million will be constructed. According to the
developers, this arena will host concerts and performances by
world-class artists and musicians, as well as international sporting events. It will also include a
4,000-capacity rock club, multiplex cinemas, restaurants and bars. A giant screen and
amphitheatre that can fit 15,000 people will also be built near the arena.
Aside from being an entertainment hub, which makes it a great place to host a Brisbane
Amazing Race, Brisbane Live will also host a number of residential, commercial, and cultural
real estate developments. Up to 4,000 new apartments, including a proposed
90-storey residential tower, and commercial establishments will be built in the precinct. Future cultural facility buildings are also being planned to
be constructed above the upper Roma Street Lines, as well as hospitals, an educational
campus, and provision for a future connection to Victoria Park.
However, to make the project a reality, developers find it necessary to demolish the current Brisbane
Transit buildings and to transfer them to a new underground facility. The Roma Street Parklands, on the other hand, would remain unchanged but they are expected to benefit from the improved
connectivity brought about by the project.
The Project’s ImpactSince the project is still pending approval from Brisbane Council, it remains to be seen when
AEG-Ogden will break ground for Brisbane Live or how long would it take them to complete the
project. However, they are fairly confident that it will create more jobs for the locals and improve the city’s reputation as one of the world’s best
tourist hubs.
As for Australian companies seeking to improve the working relationship of their employees and instil the
value of teamwork, solidarity, and co-operation, Brisbane Live will surely serve as a great
location for their team building activities. If everything goes according to plan, managers and supervisors can
have a lot of options to choose from when organising team building Australia can be proud of.
