Dashboard TheWordPressDashboardisyourmaincontrolpanel.IntheheaderbaratthetopofyourDashboard,WordPressdisplaysthenameofyoursite(“StudentBlogTemplate”inthefigurebelow).Clickingthisnameisonewaytoopenyourhomepage.ToreturntoyourDashboardfromyourhomepage,hoveroverthesitenameandclickDashboardonthedrop-downmenu.
DashboardMenuOptionsOntheleftsideofyourDashboard,WPdisplaysthemenusyouwillusetomanageyoursiteanddevelopyourpages.Hoveringovereachofthemainmenuitemsdisplaysasubmenuwithrelatedoptions.Clickingamenuitemdisplayedtherelatedtoolsandcontrolsinthelargerareatotherightofthemenus.Themainmenuoptionsare:

Subscriptions Ifyouallowvisitorstosubscribetoyoursite,thisiswhereyoucanmanagetheiraccess.
Collapsemenu AtthebottomofthemenuyouwillseealinkcalledCollapsemenu.Clickingthiswillhidethemenuandsimplydisplaytheiriconsinstead.Clickthesmallarrowiconagaintoexpandthemenu.

• Columns–Specifiesthenumberofcolumnstousewhendisplayingyourthumbnailimages.Ultimately,thiswillbedependonyourThemeandhowwideyourpageis.Ifyoufindthegalleryisn’tdisplayingproperlyafterchangingthisnumber,youmayneedtochangeittoanothernumber.
• RandomOrder–Clickthischeckboxtodisplayyourimagesinrandomorder.• Size–Specifiesthesizeoftheimagetouseinyourgallery.
5. MakesuretocreateAltTextforeachimage.ClickonathumbnailandaddadescriptionintheAlt
Textfieldontherightsideofthedialog.Thisisrequiredforaccessibilitypurposes.WerecommendthatyourAltTextbeginwith“photoof”or“imageof”asscreenreadersdonotnecessarilyidentifythetypeofobjecttheyencounter.
6. ClicktheUpdateGallerybuttoninthelowerrightcornerofthedialog.7. ClicktheUpdatebuttonontherightsideofthescreentoupdatethewebsite.8. ClickViewPageandclickonanimage.
