C ardinal Christoph Schönborn, Cardinal Archbishop of Vienna
and one of the youngest members of the Catholic Church’s College of Cardinals,
visited the campus of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., on Sunday, January
31. Cardinal Schönborn celebrated Mass for over 1,100 people and the Little Sisters
and Brothers of the Community of the Lamb along with the student Ultima Choir
sang for Mass. Cardinal Schönborn also presented a lecture on “Pope Benedict,
Regensburg and the Controversy of Creation and Evolution” to an overflowing
auditorium and gymnasium. The college presented him with the prestigious Crossof the Order of St. Benedict award, as well as a check showing the amount that was
raised for Haiti in a matter of a week. Cardinal Schönborn also blessed the medals
that will be laid in the cornerstone for the new academic building.

well. They performed when
Archbishop Sambi visited
last Fall and also this past January when Cardinal Schönborn visited.
The choirs consist volunteers and directors.

Glory Story
Gregory Johnson

“As a senior going to the
FOCUS Conference, I had a lot
on my mind knowing that I had
one semester left of college.
What is my vocation? Whatdoes God want me to do in my
life? Will things work out for
me after graduation? So I had
a ton of questions that I needed
answered. I was struggling to
find a consistency to my own
Catholic faith, I flat out wasn’t
praying enough.”
“Seeing 4,000 Catholic college
students and all the Priestsaround the altar just brought joy
to me. At adoration one night,
many college students knelt
before Jesus. Just listening to
the silence and seeing everyone
on their knees praying was
incredible. I started praying
about everything that was going
on in my life, and I was given a
sense of peace. ”
“The Conference helped me to
be at peace with where I am in
life. It also helped strengthen my
prayer life. I think that now I am
a little more prepared for what
the world has to offer me after
college.”
