What is the PIE Center?
Who We Are
How We Started
• When examining the most important agricultural and natural resources issues, stakeholders have consistently identified two themes that hinder growth and sustainability:– Lack of knowledge about agriculture, natural
resources and the connections between the two
– Lack of public involvement in agriculture and natural resources systems.
How We Started
• The PIE Center’s research promotes effective communication and provides research-based solutions that focus on enhancing public understanding and informed decision-making.
• Housed within the University of Florida’s Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication (AEC).
Our Mission
• The mission of the center is to enhance public understanding of issues in agriculture and natural resources through practical research in education, communication and leadership development.
Our Vision
• The vision of the center is a public that is informed and engaged in the issues surrounding agriculture and natural resources.
