Kawa has been with Genentech/Roche for over 8 years with increasing leadership responsibility. In her current role, Kawa is accountable for providing vision and guidance to all Genentech/Roche biologics plants to build a robust lean six sigma infrastructure and unified business processes to support effective, efficient and agile operations. Kawa joined Genentech in 2005 as Associate Director of Operational Excellence, was named Associate Director of Manufacturing at Genentech’s Oceanside, CA Biologics in 2006 and relocated to Basel, Switzerland in 2010 after accepting the role as Head of Pharma Technical Operations Strategy Operations.

While working in Oceanside, CA Kawa sponsored the Genentech Women Professionals in Oceanside and taught the Introduction of Biotechnology course at the University of California San Diego Extension. Prior to Genentech/Roche Kawa held various positions at Merck & Company.

Kawa holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University, a Master of Science in Engineering from University of Pennsylvania and a MBA from New York University. Kawa speaks Chinese, English and German.
