financial support that enabled all
children to get their own copy of this
publication. The book is available for $20
through Room 4 and a copy is also available to borrow from our school
library and also Mirrabooka Community
Library.
Art Show and upcoming Music
Concert The talent of our students was evident
last week with an excellent display and
opening of the Westminster Annual Art
Show. The range of artistic skills and
quality of work was acknowledged by
many who looked at the diversity of
material produced. Thank you to Mrs
Karelse for creating such engaging
lessons in art all year that resulted in such
inspirational work. Thank you also to Mrs
Cheetham for volunteering in every Art
lesson and being a great help. I would
also like to thank Mrs McNeil and the
choir for singing at the opening of the art
show.
Colour Run

WESTMINSTER JUNIOR PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER ISSUE 19 –28th November 2017
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Primary Science Laboratory I am pleased to let you know
Westminster Junior and Westminster
Primary Schools has been successful in
our application for a specialist science
laboratory. Work on converting an
existing room will occur during 2018 or
2019, depending on construction
schedules.
We will also receive $25,000 to purchase
science resources to equip the
laboratory. Funding will be allocated to
our school on completion of the
refurbishment.
These new facilities and resources will
allow us to grow our science program
and motivate and engage our students
to excel from Kindergarten right through
to Year 6 and beyond.
Leaving end of 2017 I would like to let the school community
know that I have obtained a permanent
position at Roseworth PS for 2018. I have
really enjoyed my year at Westminster
JPS and will miss the children and their
families. WJPS is a fantastic school and
the next principal will be very lucky to
work with such committed and
passionate staff. The selection process
for a new principal is currently
underway.

Art Show Book Launch
"The Opening of the Art Show was a great success! Janine Freeman, Member for Mirrabooka attended and spent lots of time looking at the artworks and talking to parents. It was lovely to see so many parents come to check out their childrens' artwork, and the children were thrilled to be famous artists for the week. The opening of the show featured songs by the WJPS Choir and a lovely afternoon tea." Niki Karelse - Art Specialist Teacher

The Colour Run is almost here!
Leading up to the “main event” on Friday 1 December, the P&C will be having a whole day of “colour” and
“fun” starting in the Undercover Café. Along with our Sausage Sizzle, we will be serving up lots of colourful
treats and delights to add to the fun of the day.
Our special Colourful Menu will be available in the classrooms and around the schools and
undercover café.
Undercover Café (Canteen) Open 8.30am – 1.20pm every Thursday and Friday
(Until further Notice)
Thank you to our students and staff who have supported our Undercover Café during the term.
We have opened every Thursday and Friday since the beginning of Term 4 and we have been very pleased with our sales and your support.
Tammie has settled very nicely into her role as the Canteen Officer and under the direction of the P&C Executive has worked very hard with minimal help! She has managed to keep our children and staff fed and nourished during morning tea and lunch. Tammie is always thinking of new ideas but in keeping with tradition is serving “old” favourites like muffins, pikelets, curry and rice, toasties, fish and chips and pizza of our “open” menu.
If you would like to help Tammie on either Thursday or Friday, please speak to Norm.

Summer’.
Join in the summertime fun these school holidays; incursion days include:
Bags and Pencil Cases With A Splash Of
Colour
We're getting ready for the new school year with a
splash of colour. Using vibrant colours, we'll get
creative by tie-dying calico bags and pencil cases.
It'll be to dye for!
At the end of the day you'll be able to take home
your new bag and pencil case to use at home or
school.
Make An Erupting Volcano
We'll be building our very own volcanoes and
making them erupt. At the end of the day you'll be
able to take your volcano home so you can make
it erupt again and again - in true volcanic fashion!
