As I am writing this I, just today, finished four school shows in Richmond,
Va. I just looked at our wall calendar and counted up the shows we have on
the books for August; it’s 50! But once September starts things level out a
bit. I will be at a magic convention the first week of September then off to
Myrtle Beach for a weeks vacation. We can’t wait...
This month we are performing at company picnics, school shows, church
shows, resorts, magic classes, libraries, county fairs, and more.
Lana is now becoming more and more a part of the
show but it is all stuff she has, in her own way,
asked to do. Just this week she has started per-
forming on stage at Massanutten Resort by produc-
ing a silk from her bare hands and helping us demo
d-lites.
In the middle of our crazy schedule Natalie, Lana &
I met Brian Staples a magician and animal trainer.
He introduced us to Wilson the monkey and all his
other animals. Weeks later Lana is still talking
about Wilson the monkey. More on that later in this
issue.

Who is this Guy? Devin Knight Devin Knight is regarded as one of magic's most prolific
inventors. He is also a highly sought after lecturer for
both magicians and mentalists. Most of his effects are
run-away best sellers and have received rave reviews.
Devin was a protégé of the late Al Mann and currently
works as a full-time magician, comedy hypnotist and
mentalist. Devin strives to create effects that not only
fool magicians, but at the same time are easy to do. The
majority of his effects rely more on clever ideas, rather
than difficult sleights. This puts most of his effects within
the skill range of most magicians. Cont on the next page...

Devin Knight has created lots of magic effects such as: blind-
sight, Outta-sight, Far sight, psychoportation, improved
baby gag, Autobend silverware, forsight, Excalibur deck,
predictionary, Four told, Poker tells, Tri sight, Random
Thoughts, The blindfolded car (book) and many others.
I first heard of Devin when he was coming through Rich-
mond a few years ago and there was a buzz about this magi-
cian and mentalist that had to be seen. I was not able to go
then because I was already booked myself elsewhere but I
have seen Devin several times since. His ideas are clever and
he is very down to earth and personable.
He has several videos on youtube and his website is at

Our summer camp program has been enhanced by this wonderfully interactive magic show. Wes, the magician does a great job involving the children throughout his magic show full of surprises. We book the magic show every summer.

Thank you for a fantastic show!
As usual, the kids enjoyed themselves and the adults were thrilled too.
The Levitation act was also very cool!

2014 is my 11th straight year performing my show at Massanutten resort. Each year we perform for 14 straight weeks during the
summer for their timeshare guests. Lots of things have changed for me in those 11 years including my show. When I was first
hired by Massanutten I performed my regular family show. I then started adding illusions each year and now after all these years
I have a bunch of
illusions and rou-
tines to choose
from for all my
other shows. This
year’s show is no
different, I created
about 85% new
material just for
Massanutten 2014.

Magic News / Another tragic loss in magic
Recently the magic world received the sad news that Joanie Spina had succumbed to the fatal lung condition she had been fighting the last few months. Long time friend David Oliver broke the news with a
statement announcing she had passed at 11:35 AM Central Time Sunday, August 17. She was 61 years old.
Joanie Spina is perhaps best known for work with David Copperfield. She spent over a
decade with his company as a lead dancer and choreographer. She also worked as a
director, artistic director, performer, lecturer and a consultant to many magic acts. Her list of clients is impressive, ranging from Melinda
and Princess Tenko to Marco Tempest.

Natalie & I performed at a huge library in Roanoke. It even has its own coffee shop that also had a drive through. It even
had a stage with theater seating. It was a packed house and we had lots of fun. The library loved us and they have already
invited back for next year!

A traditional fire wallet, at
an attractive price.
The magician removes his wallet from his
pocket. When he opens the wallet, flames
leap out of it!
The magician closes the wallet and when he
opens it again, everything appears above
board. The wallet appears ordinary in
every way.
