Who are we?
• Launched in May 2001 by Founder Bracknell Forest Borough Council and Sponsor LDA
• The Forum is an independent organisation and is not a platform for sales or political lobbying

Our Mission?
To be an active Member Forum which shares information, experiences and
ideas in a structured and focused environment
Managed by the Public Sector for the Public Sector

How we are structured?
• The Forum has two main categories of membership:– Full membership (public sector)– Sponsor membership
• The Forum is managed by an elected Core Group• The activities of the Forum are bound by a legally
approved Constitution agreed by Members

Progress to Date
• Much higher profile nationally • Currently have 520+ members from 292
organisations• 10 Events – Bracknell, London, Milton Keynes,
Doncaster, Maidenhead, Newcastle, Coventry and now Bolton
• Fully operational website with 50,000 ‘hits’ per month

• Involved in Information Dissemination work package for the National Smart Card Project
• Many members of Forum were heavily involved in other Work Packages

• First regional smart card workshop for SEFEG
• National Projects Experience Sharing Workshops

• Private sector sponsorship 75% of turnover – has been 100%
• Engagement with supply-side a critical feature of Forum
• Avoids LA membership fees

• Current sponsorship structure– Sliding scale encourages broad participation but:– Jump from lowest level to next disproportionate – Companies can find ongoing commitment difficult
(as against one-off payments)

Other terms
• Year 4 membership fee reverts to year one level
• 5th year discount of 80%• Existing members in 2nd year may
apply retrospectively for a multi-annual term
• Free year for Core Group members following at least one year on board
