Meet Mrs. Webb!
Meet Miss Harper!
• School begins: 8:00 a.m. Students arriving after 8:00 will receive a tardy slip.
• Students can arrive at 7:15 and will wait in the cafeteria. At 7:30, 3rd grade students will report to their hall until 7:50. Students can bring a book to read during this time.
• Lunch: 12:01-12:31 – Must get a visitors badge if you are joining your child for lunch.
• School Dismissal: 3:15 p.m. Any changes to the student’s dismissal must be made in writing to the child’s teacher. When a last minute change is needed, please contact the office prior to 2:30pm. To ensure attention to student and staff safety, we will NOT be able to honor dismissal changes after 2:30 PM. If you need to pick up your child early for an appointment, plan to arrive prior to 2:30 and sign them out from the office. Students will not be dismissed after 2:40pm.

Attendance
• Attendance is taken at 10:00 a.m. Anyone arriving after 10:00 a.m. without a signed note from a health care professional, is considered absent for that day.
• When a student must be absent from school, the student –upon returning to school- students must bring a signed note by the parents describing the reason for the absence. This note should be provided within 3 days after the student returns to school.
• If a student is absent 5 or more consecutive days because of a personal illness, the student must bring a statement from a doctor or health care clinic.

Classroom Expectations
School Wide Expectations
1. We will teach students expectations for responsible behavior in every school environment by relating student actions to our school-wide expectations.2. We will provide positive feedback to students when they are meeting expectations and following the guidelines for success. 3. When minor misbehavior occurs, staff will view the misbehavior as a teaching opportunity, responding with calm, consistent corrections or consequences.
Communication
• Homework Folder (Yellow)—This is to be brought back to school everyday. You can also send any notes you have for us in this folder.
• Daily Behavior Sheet— Conduct sheet will be in the homework folder so you can check if any marks were given daily. Please sign it on Fridays for letter grade.
• “Peek of the Week”—Goes home every Monday-Please review the peek for important reminders as well as the homework each day. You can also find the Peek of the Week on the webpage.
• Weekly Skyward messages- Sunday Evenings
• Class Dojo- A communication app for your phone. Parents can send/ receive messages to/from the teacher. • Immediate form of contact• Positive and Negative
Grades• Spelling and Language Arts are one grade. Spelling is 10% and
Language Arts is the remaining 90%.
• Math and Reading count as their own grade. We will give Daily Grades (DG) and Tests.
• Conduct & Work Habits are averaged at the end of each grading period. E, S, N, U
• Science and Social Studies are graded on a scale of 100% each.
• Progress Reports (every 3 weeks) & Report Cards (every 9 weeks)
• Grades are uploaded on Skyward
• Students must receive an over all average of 70 or higher to be promoted to 4th grade.
Grading Guidelines
• Re-do assignments cannot be sent home.
• Skill will be retaught in class, and students can redo the assignment for a 70.
• Two grades will be taken each week in Math, Reading, and Language Arts.
• One Grade will be taken each week in Social Studies and Science.

Extras
• Birthdays - Store bought cupcakes or cookies will be allowed for student birthdays. Please send the item to school with your child or drop the item off at the front desk.
• Please do not bring lunch for other students
• Students can bring a dry snack daily.
• Cell Phones – Students are not allowed to turn on, display or use cells phones during the school day unless allowed by the teacher. A device that is visible and/or in use during the school day without permission will be confiscated and turned into the principal. There is a fee of $15 for retrieval of the device.
Extras
• Dress Code – The current Pearland ISD dress code can be found on the Carleston Elementary website. Please no light up shoes.
• Disruptive items – School personnel has the authority to confiscate items that students bring to school that are disruptive to the educational process. It is the student’s responsibility to make the parents aware that an item has been taken from him/her. Parents can then contact the teacher to pick up the item.
• Restroom/Lock Down/Fire Drill
