• A system of measurement used in the U.S. The system includes units for measuring weight, length, capacity, and temperature.

• Weight- a measure of how heavy an object is.

Ounce (oz)

• A customary unit of weight equaling of a pound. This means 16 oz. = 1 pound.

• About the same weight as ONE slice of bread

Pound (lb)

• A customary unit of weight equal to 16 ounces.

• About the same as a small loaf of bread.

• A system of measurement used around the world based on tens. The basic unit for mass/weight is the gram.

• The standard unit of mass in the metric system.

• About 1 large paperclip or 1 small grape.
