Engineering Girl Writing Contest
PROMPT: Write an original, fictional story
in which the main character is a female who
uses engineering skills to solve a problem.
Deadline is February 2019.
Elementary (grades 3-5): 800 words.
Middle School (grades 6-8): 1100 words.

EPB’s 15th Annual Black History Month Poetry
Contest
All students in grades 1 – 12 are invited to compete In the EPB Black
History Poetry Contest. The winner will receive $100 and an
invitation to attend the Awards Banquet!
Deadline for entries is February 8, 2018!!

criteria. Winners will be announced by phone and email.
Hamilton County Coalition is looking for Youth
Ambassadors to promote healthy living and smart choices
in/around the Hamilton County area. If you are interested
in being trained to advocate for effective prevention
strategies through community collaborations,
enforcement and policy changes this is the opportunity
for you! Ambassadors meet to strategize on ways to
reduce underage drinking, tobacco use and prescription
drug use in the community. Ambassadors receive training
and technical assistance that will help spread this
message to other students in and around Hamilton
County. Ambassadors have the opportunity to attend a
National Summit in the summer to connect with youth
across America (free of charge). If you want to make a
difference in your community while earning volunteer
hours see Ms. Walton before 1/20/19.

The Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) is once again sponsoring the annual High
School Essay Contest for Tennessee and your students are invited to participate. All entries
into TCA's essay contest will be judged by a panel of industry personnel and TCA will award
cash prizes to first, second, & third place essays.
Contest Rules:
Open to all high school students ages 16-18 at the beginning of the school term.
Essay must be typed, double-spaced and not exceed 600 words.

The Alton Park Development Corporation has a great need at our facility for Juniors and
Seniors to get their volunteer hours. Please contact us as we have immediate need for
