CHRISTMAS GIFT TO MY CHURCH. A special
Christmas collection for the parish is
being taken up now before Christmas
Day. The Christmas letter from the
pastor asks that every parishioner
prayerfully make a fair share offering
during this holy season. Extra
Christmas collection blue envelopes are in the church
today for those who did not receive the mailing. The
whole Pastoral Staff thanks you in advance for your
“Christmas Gift to My Church” this year.
THE SULTAN AND THE SAINT will be broadcast
on PBS (Channel 13) this Tuesday, December 26th
from 8PM to 9PM. It is a remarkable film about the
little known encounter between Saint Francis of
Assisi and Sultan Malik Al-Kamil who met during
the Fifth Crusade and was each
transformed in notable ways. The
film centers on these two men of
faith who had an improbable
meeting during a terrible period of
religious conflict between their faiths and discovered
a way of peace between them. Don’t miss it!
VOCATIONS THOUGHT
The Parish Vocations Committee would like to offer
the following reflection for this Christmas Eve:
Child milestones, such as first smile, first word, or
first step, can be so important for families because
they suggest movement toward accomplishing
potential. Jesus, as a child, needed to achieve these
various milestones as He moved toward His full
potential as Savior of the world. As we may imagine
ourselves (even if we cannot remember) reaching our
"firsts" as children, let us ask the Lord to reveal to us
the full potential that He saw in us even at those
simple, but glorious moments. May our celebration
of Christmas remind us not to sell ourselves short as
adults in responding fully to God's will for our lives,
where true peace is to be found!
ADVENT WREATH. For those
who have an Advent wreath at
home for family prayer during
this holy season, today on the
Fourth Sunday of Advent, please
light all the candles (three purples
and one pink) on your wreath.
ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASSES
ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASSES. Any
Catholic adult who has not received the sacrament of
Confirmation is invited to participate in a program of
preparation being offered in the area
parishes. The classes will be held on
a monthly basis beginning on
Wednesday, January 10th in the
Faculty Room of the school. The
Sacrament of Confirmation for adults
will be administered on Pentecost
Sunday, May 20th at the 11:00 AM Mass. Please
contact Mrs. Regina Moreno, Pastoral Associate, at
718-347-3511 or email her at [email protected] to
make an appointment and to register for the classes.
Information flyers are also available on the tables in
the Gathering Space of the church.
RELIGIOUS CHRISTMAS STAMPS are still
available for purchase in the Parish Office. Each book
of twenty stamps costs $9.80 and
exact change is appreciated. Please
come to the Parish Office during
regular hours (8:30AM-12Noon &
1PM–4PM) Mondays to Fridays.
Thank you to the Evangelization
Committee for its hard work in
making the Christmas religious stamps available for
everyone.
EPIPHANY CONCERT. All are invited to a
special “Renaissance Celebration at Epiphany”
musical concert in the church at 3:00 PM on
Sunday, January 7th. Parishioners, friends,
neighbors and guests will delight in the beautiful
sounds of the Renaissance Age performed by our
adult choir, children and handbell choirs, the
Indian choir and the Himig At Alay choir. All are
asked to donate a new or slightly used men’s
winter coat to help those in the Bowery section of
Manhattan. Light refreshments will be shared
after the concert.
CHURCH ENVELOPES. Thank you to those
parishioners who called this week to tell us about not
receiving the monthly packet of envelopes in
December. If you have had any problems recently or
in the past please call Pat (extension “0”) at the front
desk and give her your full address and envelope
number. We hope to solve the problem shortly but in
the meanwhile please use the envelopes on the tables
in the Gathering Space. Thank you for your support.
CALENDARS for 2018 are
