A Foundation Apprenticeship takes two years to complete, is the same level of learning as a Higher (SCQF level 6), and is one of your subject choices. As you work towards a qualification you will spend time out of school at college and with a local employer.
The Civil Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship a qualification for young people who wish to enter into construction environments. The qualification covers all the generic knowledge that everyone working in the field needs, and that all employers look for.
Pupils should have achieved several National 4s and be working towards National 5 subjects in maths and physics.
Option 1:
The course duration is over 2 years and would involve 4 afternoons a week for 2 years.1.30 - 4pm for 30 weeksDay: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Option 2:
The course duration is over 2 years and would involve 2 afternoons a week for 2 years.1.30 - 5pm for 36 weeksDay: Tuesday, Thursday or Wednesday, Friday

There are work placement opportunities with local employers built into the programme and an additional SVQ unit to be completed which combines various Health and Safety units.
This course can prepare you for work in the areas of employment that deal with the construction environment e.g. bridges, motorways, roads and buildings.If you complete this course successfully and would like to undertake further college study, you can apply for:1. Modern apprenticeship with CITB2. HNC Construction Management
If you have the appropriate entry requirements, you will be interviewed for this course and this will involve:�� A welcome and introduction from Head of Sector�� A written exercise – Multiple Choice Health and Safety questions�� A personal interview
Your written exercise and personal interview will be graded to establish your suitability for the course.
