Teachers Share Their Favorite Thanksgiving MemoriesI remember Mrs. Cantor from Holualoa Elementary. She picked 24 coconuts and
brought them to school for each of us to transform into a turkey. She also brought a staple gun, and tacked all of the construction paper feathers onto each coconut turkey. Before we took them home, we learned how important the coconut tree was to the lives of the indigenous Polynesians. The Hawaiians were thankful for
the coconut, and we were thankful for Mrs. Cantor! -November 1986---
From Mr. Rossman
A couple of years ago we decided to spend Thanksgiving at my sister's apartment. Her kitchen was very small so instead of cooking an entire Thanksgiving meal we decided to order it at our local
Safeway. The advertisement stated that everything was completely cooked including the turkey! We thought, "What a great idea! We can just relax and have someone else cook for us!" We will pick up
the order at 7pm so we can have dinner at 7:30!" We relaxed for the rest of the day and, as scheduled, picked up the package at 7:30 and started to take everything out of the box. I then noticed the most comical thing that could have happened to us on a Thanksgiving night- it was true that the package was complete and fully cooked, but it was also COMPLETELY FROZEN! We all laughed until we cried

Growing up through my middle and high school years, it was just my mom and I
living together. It doesn't make sense to cook a whole feast for just the two of us, so we would go out to eat. For our Thanksgiv-ing tradition, we would eat sushi at Imari
restaurant at the Hilton, then go to the raw oyster bar at the Mauna Lani. When I
married my husband, it was quite a change since he has 9 brothers (plus many
sister-in-laws and nieces/nephews) and everyone pitches in to create a huge
Thanksgiving feast!From Ms. Davis
