Wild and Wacky Walk-about CharactersHoist the flag and shout aye-aye! The Admirable Admirals are Rhubarb Theatre’s latest hilarious walk-about characters and they’ll be dropping anchor at festivals and events across the UK.
Nelly, Bones and Fred are here to battle flying fish, each other and any unsuspecting passers-by with their salty sea-dog ways.
So hold onto your fancy hats, cause there’s gallons of water and a huge splash of hilarity heading into port near you!
For children and families who enjoy live performance, character interaction, mime, physical theatre, mischief and laughter.
Compère Paul Wood returns from 100% Entertainment
After huge success from previous Illuminations events, we are delighted Paul Wood will be joining us again to compère the event whilst performing some party dances, games and comedy routines as well as giving away lots of prizes. Why does he love coming to
Mablethorpe year on year? “We’ve had such an amazing time hosting the event over the last couple of years. It’s a great day for us, there’s such a great buzz and atmosphere around the place. Once we’ve done our sound check earlier in the day, we head straight for the rides, something to eat and an ice cream but the thing we really look forward to is the interaction with the fantastic audience. What makes this event so special for us is so many people of all ages coming together and just enjoying themselves to the absolute maximum. The whole place has such a fun sense of humour.
FaradaysFaradays is a Grimsby based four piece alternative rock band who write, record and play their own original songs. These self taught musicians have spent over six months preparing their performance with songs they have written along the way so be prepared to support this lively, entertaining and full of energy band with upbeat rock songs. Jamie Henley, lead vocalist of the band says, “We are really looking forward to playing in front of a new crowd in a new place.”
The Procrastinators
The Procrastinators are the next big deal on Lincolnshire’s music scene. Formed in 2014 by Daniel ‘Doctor’ Foster (bass) and Joe Horton (guitar), and after numerous lineup changes, they are quickly crafting their own setlist full of feel-good #funkpop covers designed to get the floor moving and the people grooving wherever they go.
With Max Culling (keys), Aaron Patchett (drums) and the wonderful vocal team of Rachael Clark and Bethany Durrant now on board, 2017 is the year to see them LIVE in action! After all, there’s no party like a ‘Pro’ party...”
The Bikini Beach Band present Surf NoirAlways Ace! - TIME OUT
London’s kings of surf-noir - NME
One of the highlights of the Big Chill - THE TIMES
The Escovido brothers deadpan delivery of their cheeky instrumental arrangements of old favourites and modern classics appeals to young and old alike by evoking an era when rock & roll and the surf instrumental were king whilst delivering modern material such as Pulp’s Babies, Radiohead’s Creep and Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’. All this with set moves performed in a glorious blaze of technicolor hawaiian or bolero shirts, fezzes and Elvis shades.
“The night finished with a gloriously unexpected surprise in the Dome - the Bikini Beach Band.
Resistance was futile, and well-refreshed guests were begging them to stay long after they downed their instruments.” - HENLEY STANDARD
The evening will finish with a
magnificent firework display
at 10.15pm followed by the
Illuminations of Mablethorpe
switched on for the summer.
