From the Principal’s Desk Welcome back to school! Our 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start! For those of you new to Waolani Judd Nazarene
School, we would like to welcome you to our ohana. One of my favorite things about being an educator is the new start we get
to experience each year. It is always nice to start off fresh with a clean classroom, a new class of students, and brand new sup-
plies. It’s also nice to see the children grow and blossom. I recognize that there is also a lot of anxiety in the start of a new year,
as students and parents are uncertain of the new teacher and combination of classmates. Our teachers and staff here at WJNS
hope you will feel comfortable with them, as they truly strive to make each child feel safe and loved. Let us know if there is any
way we can best help your child have a successful year. As your family settles in to a new routine may I encourage you with a
few family tips I have found helpful in my family:
Have dinner together as a family- Even in the hustle and bustle, this can be one of the most important things your family
does, connecting with each other, and sharing about your day.
Establish an evening routine- Spending time reading a book or Bible story together, sharing about your day or anxieties
about tomorrow, even praying together provides a wonderful time of closure for your children, giving them structure and
security.
Setting a routine bedtime- School-age children and preteens need 10-11 hours of sleep. Setting this routine from the onset
will not only help your child(ren) remain healthy and happy, it will also give you and your spouse precious quality time
alone.
These are just a few great tips to a happy and healthy family. For more helpful support, visit

Thanks again for the privilege of partnering with you to educate your child(ren). We here at
WJNS are excited for the 2015-2016 school year!
