A tutorial, not a separate courseTaking learning to the next level
During 2010-2011 School year• All 10th graders are in general course.• AP seminar students meet after school for
additional instruction, films, discussion and testing.
• No grades, only personal portfolio measures growth.
• July, 2011 - Successful results on AP test (grade of 3,4, or 5 out of a possible 5) will enable me to change designation of course to AP European History.
Getting Started this Summer
• We’ve already studied the material at a challenging high school level.
• I assign readings, films, video lectures, and questions commensurate with college-level coursework.
• We meet in seminars to discuss readings.
• End of-summer practice AP test.
The TestThe AP European History Exam is 3 hours and 5
minutes long and covers a full-year introductory college course. The exam contains: – Fifty-five minutes to do 80 multiple-choice questions
– A 15-minute reading period
– A 45-minute Document-Based Question (DBQ)
– Two 35-minute thematic essays chosen from several options
Questions on intellectual-cultural, political-diplomatic, and social-economic history form the basis of every section of the exam.

site maintained by the College Board and peruse:
• 4 sample syllabi
• The official course descriptionhttp://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_eurohist.html?eurohist
• On the site, you may also access• Past tests
Getting a “feel” for AP rigorParticipating schools and AP teachers:
– Do not control the curriculum
– Do not control the grading standards
This approach gives you “an out” without penalty
This endeavor is a labor of love on all of our parts!
