Wallington’s ‘Castle Quest’‘Castle Quest’‘Castle Quest’‘Castle Quest’‘Castle Quest’FOR THIS YEAR’S holiday clubSt Patrick’s Church,Wallington was transformedinto a castle for ‘Castle Quest’.

A week of fun was attendedeach morning by over 100 localchildren, supported by some 50volunteers from the church.

The ‘quest’ was to help theking and queen, two regalpuppets, find the light that hadgone from their castle leavingit so gloomy.

Colin Voice, Children’s andFamily Worker, explained:“Each day Telzar our timetraveller, played by Sophie

Armitage, discovered a newclue like, we should ‘Obey HisWord’ which gradually broughtlight back into the castle andhelped the children find thesource of light for their ownlives too.

“Every day the childrenheard a story of a king fromthe Bible which taught thetruth of the clues found. Theweek concluded with a familycelebration service on theSunday with the whole church, full of life, light and colour aswe proclaimed Jesus as King ofKings and light of the world!

“The week was full of funactivities with puppets, crafts, songs and messy games, leaving the children with greatexpectations for next year”.

Fun Daystartscommunitycentre projectA ‘FUN DAY’ for the Telford Park community was a hit inmore ways than one ,when the Weir Link community projectgot under way on Saturday 15 September.

The ‘Fun Day’ brought the whole community together, from young children enjoying the bouncy castle, circus skillsand face painting, to boys playing football and table tennis, tothe elderly enjoying the steel band whilst eating an ice creamor literally dancing in the street!

At the height of the fun, the demolition of the Weir Hall wasformally started by Keith Hill MP the Rev. Simon Gates (Chairof The Weir Link charity), the Mayor of Lambeth and SydBishop (from the demolition Company) taking several goodswipes at the building with a sledgehammer!

The Buy A Brick Campaign (£5 a brick) was launched withthe Mayor and Keith Hill as the first customers!

Weir Link Project Trustee, Claire Rennie, said “We want toencourage as many people as possible to Buy A Brick -including readers of The Bridge - together we really can makea difference to the life of this community.”
