DRESS CODE
The mission of West Valley High School is to prepare students for college, career and
citizenship and to foster a climate which supports learning for all and prepares students for
the work world beyond WVHS.
Tops should cover a student's midsection, shoulders and chest: no tank tops, no one
shoulder tops, no tube tops, no bare midriffs or low-cut tops.
Pants should cover a student's undergarments: exposed undergarments are not
appropriate school attire.
Shorts, Skirts, and Dresses should be longer than longest finger with arms naturally
extended.
Messages (and images) on apparel should make no reference to drugs, alcohol, or
tobacco -- no explicitly/implicitly sexual, violent, crass or hateful references in
messages and/or images.
Sunglasses cannot be worn inside the school.
Scarves/handkerchiefs that can be construed as gang-related may not be worn or
exposed in any way.
Hats may be worn in the hallways, but it’s up to each teacher whether hats can be worn
in their classroom or not.
