This Week:
Live the Justice of God
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Keep Yourself Busy!
In our Second Reading this weekend, St. Paul reminds
us of the importance of keeping ourselves busy with
the business of our salvation and not the business of
other people and their affairs. We can frequently find
ourselves busy with the affairs of other people and
totally forget the important matter that we can concern
ourselves with is our salvation.
While it may seem that all around us things are going
badly, we must keep our eyes focused on Christ. In
keeping our aims focused on Christ, we can rest
assured that the “proud and evildoers” of our First
Reading “will be stubble” and those who fear the name
of the Lord will experience the rising of the “sun of
justice with its healing rays.”

Stand Erect - Your Redemption is at Hand
Our Gospel reading this weekend reminds us that we
must live our lives according to the demands of the
Gospel at all times and in all places. We must
constantly be prepared to give an account of our
faith in Jesus Christ.
St. Luke warns us that authentic discipleship in Jesus
Christ is not without consequences. He warns of a
hatred because of the name of Jesus Christ. He tells
us that authentic disciples of Jesus Christ will be
turned over by their loved ones and that among those
disciples, some will meet their death because of their
faith in Jesus Christ. St. Luke says this not to frighten
us but to offer us a message of hope: to repent and
serve the Lord. As disciples, we are called to
persevere in faith and to bring others into the love
Christ has for each one of us. To be an authentic
disciple, we must be imitators of Christ. How do we
imitate Christ? How can we be of service to
others? (con’t on p.2)

#GivingTuesday & Fruitful Harvest
On December 3rd our parish will be participating in
#GivingTuesday. Giving Tuesday reminds us to give
back to our community, provides us an opportunity to
thank God for the many blessings that He bestows upon
us and creates an awareness as to how we can best use
our talent and treasure to help others. Because of this
important reminder, a donor has offered to match
contributions up to $10,000! All proceeds will go
towards our parish Fruitful Harvest Goal.
Fruitful Harvest supports active, retired and future
priests, Hispanic Ministry, Marriage Preparation, Food
Pantries, Religious Education and more! We are
currently $87,167 short of our $223,538 goal. For every
$10,000 donated, our staff will participate in a
challenge - Will someone dye their hair? Will
someone get a pie in the face?
I invite you to reflect on the many ways your
participation in #GivingTuesday can strengthen
