Week of Prayer for International Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering – December 3 – 10
Offering Goal: $160 million
“How many million more
souls are to pass into
eternity without having
heard the name of
Jesus?”
- Lottie Moon
DOM Thoughts, I want to begin by expressing my deepest appreciation to each of you for the joy and honor of serving as your Director of Missions. I thank God for the privilege and the opportunity to serve His church and encourage His servants. I also want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas from The Shirley House! I hope that you and your family are blessed with a wonderful holiday season.
As we enter the month of December consider the following poem written by Pastor Don Procunier:
Twas the days before Christmas, and all through the Church
The pews are all filling, as everyone perched.
The hands are all shaking, and greetings abound
Soon I'll go to the pulpit, prepared to expound.
I spent the whole week trying to hear what God's saying
Studying, reading, and earnestly praying
The choir has practiced and taken great care
Their singing this morning, for weeks they've prepared
We've had Christmas sermons of Angels and Wise men
Of Shepherds and mangers, no room at the Inn
I pray that this week, the message will do
The job of moving the folks from the pew
But I must keep it brief. I must watch my time
For at noon I will hear the watches all chime
This is a season so full of distractions
But we know that this world has no satisfaction
If we don't share the Gospel of Christ
Not just his birth, but His paying our price
If we speak of the manger, but not of the cross
The fullness of Jesus, somehow gets lost
This Christmas season, do Jesus a favor
Make it a season to share Christ the Savior!
Every year during the busy Christmas season I think about a beautiful song sung by Becky Kelly titled “Where's The Line To See Jesus”. The lyrics to this song ask a very important question for all of us to consider during this busy time of the year. Christmas time was approaching; Snow is starting to fall, Shoppers choosing their presents, people filling the mall. Children waiting for Santa, with excitement and glee, A little boy tugged my sweater, looked up and asked me.
Where’s the line to see Jesus? Is He here at the store? It’s Christmas time, it’s His birthday. Why don’t we see Him more? Where’s the line to see Jesus? He was born for me. Santa Claus brought me presents. But Christ gave His life for me.
As I stood in amazement, at this message profound, I looked down to thank him, he was nowhere around. The little boy at the mall, might as well have had wings, As the tears filled my eyes, I thought I heard him sing.
Where’s the line to see Jesus? Is He here at the store? It’s Christmas time, it’s His birthday. Why don’t we see Him more? Where’s the line to see Jesus? He was born for me. Santa Claus brought me presents. But Christ gave His life for me.
In the blink of an eye, at the sound of His trump,
We’ll all stand in line at His throne. Every knee shall bow down, Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!
Where’s the line to see Jesus? Is He here at the store? It’s Christmas time, it’s His birthday. Why don’t we see Him more? Where’s the line to see Jesus? He was born for me. Santa Claus brought me presents. But Christ gave His life for me.

Merry Christmas,
David
