Note: You do not need to go through the entire clearances process for this func-
tion, but you MUST complete a volunteer application, disclosure statement and Act
24, and have your ID scanned into the School Gate Guardian system (this can be
done at any school within the Eastern York School District). You can request forms
from the school office or download them from the district website. (If you would
like to regularly volunteer in your child's school or be a field trip chaperone, you
must have your full clearances.)
Also, if you have middle or high school students in the Eastern York School District,
they can volunteer their time without going through the volunteer process. They
will receive credit towards their community service requirements.
We also need donations of cakes for the cake walk, baked goods for the bake
sale, and items for the raffles.
If you have any questions, please call or text Karen (717-818-3643).

Saturday, April 13 at Canadochly Lutheran Church’s Parish
Hall. All five boys earned their Arrow of Light. This is the highest
honor boys can earn in Cub Scouts. Their den (Webelos II / Arrow

On Tuesday, March 19, Canadochly Elementary School held its first Family STEAM Night. As the approximately 40 families arrived,
Ms. Duane had a student string quartet play. Ms. Duane also had some information on the science of music to share with the fami-
lies. Students then had the opportunity to learn more about a variety of careers before completing a STEM project. Students in
kindergarten and first grades learned about careers in nursing from Michelle Kelly and being a firefighter from Jesse
Frantz. Meanwhile, students in second through fifth grades learned about careers in the National Parks from Jackie Kramer, Radio
Broadcasting from Dave Russell of WARM 103.3, and architecture from Elysia Mikkelsen and Stephanie Dando of Crabtree,
Rohrbaugh, & Associates. After learning about the careers, students learned about some potential problems in each career and
designed and built solutions to some of those problems. Examples of the problems included designing a splint for a stuffed animal,
a way to help park rangers identify types of plants and animals, and even to design a classroom - using actual architectural prints of
Canadochly.

On Thursday, April 25th the Barn Hill Preserve presented a 45-minute oral presentation with LIVE animal ambassadors. This program
offers students the unique experience to get up close and personal with animals they may have never seen before! Student participa-
tion made the program both educational and entertaining!
