From the Desk of the DTE. I am indeed happy to announce that
my Department will be publishing
a periodical e-news letter. I am
sure it will improve the perception
of the Department.
The focus of the Technical
Education Department is at present to improve the
quality of higher education by several initiatives and
schemes. The attainment of quality cannot be
fulfilled overnight and stopped when it reaches some
bench mark but it is a continuous process. E-
Governance is a major tool to improve our
administration and the e-news letter is a good
initiative towards achieving quality, transparency
and accountability.
Karnataka has been at the forefront in the field of
Technical Education. Every year, large numbers of
students from different parts of India as well as from
abroad apply for Technical Education in the state. It
is necessary to provide useful information about the
Department to the aspirants and I hope the proposed
News Letter will serve the purpose.
The role played by the Editorial Board in achieving
the twin objectives of enhancing knowledge and
inculcating the right values among the students and
staff is a welcome initiative. The primary goal of
education is to make the students competent to face
their lives confidently, broaden their horizons and
mould them into good individuals and responsible
citizens. With this mind map, our education should
provide students with the right values, morals and
spiritual fervor. Our History is our guide and road
map towards a strong State as well as a strong India
in the future.
To succeed here, active involvement of the Board
members, teachers and all the stakeholders is of
paramount importance. Let us start a fresh chapter
by forgetting our conclusions about our past and
history and make a fresh attempt in whatever we do
in our life. We all have to join together with new
thoughts to build a strong well-knit society and only
then can we dream of a strong Nation.
I wish the Editorial Committee all the best and
pledge all possible support from the Department to
make this endeavor a grand success. I wish the News
Letter to come out meaningfully comprising useful
articles of academic and societal interest.
H.U.Talawar
From the desk of the Editor
I am glad that the Department of
Technical Education under the able
leadership of Shri H. U. Talawar has
decided to publish periodical e-
Newsletter as a part of ICT initiatives
undertaken by the Department. It is a
unique practice that can be considered as one of the
best that the Technical Education Department has
undertaken. The purpose of the e-News Letter is to
disseminate the latest developments in the
Department to its stakeholders. We have come a
long way in implementing an accountable and
transparent system and have been fairly successful in
creating a brand value for our Department. I believe
we have been progressing well on the path of
reforms that we have set for ourselves. One of our
greatest strengths is our creativity and passion to
develop innovations and technologies that can take
us into a new era. Our goal is to ensure that every
student is given access to a world class education
and that produces an internationally competent
workforce. Our Department in pursuing these
objectives has initiated several measures in the past.
The e- News Letter is one of the steps in promoting
transparency and accountability in the system. The
current effort of e-News Letter is to showcase our
past and present achievements.
In order to bring out a quality e-newsletter all the
Heads of the Institutions are hereby requested to
actively participate by sending a good number of
quality press notes and photographs in editable word
format and also by making the staff and students of
the Institutions participate in this process.
The heads of the Institution are hereby once again
requested to nominate a coordinator to collect news
from the concerned Departments. The news may be
related to academics, sports, extra-curricular
activities, co-curricular activities, e- Governance
Initiatives, Quality Improvement Activities,
Ombudsman, MIS, Best Practices, Calendar of
Events, Training Programs, Success Stories of the
Institution and articles on science, technology &
moral education.
All the Heads of the Institutions may send the press
notes about the activities of the Institutions on or
before 25th of the every month to the email id given
below and enable the Editorial Board to bring out
the e- News Letter in time.
Finally I thank our beloved Director Shri
H.U.Talawar for giving me an opportunity to be a
part of the Editorial Board.

Exciting jobs of tomorrow
These days students have ideas that some of us at
our age never thought of, so we must empower them
very early and make them feel that they can be
change makers.
To keep up with these changes people need to be
quick and forget about the old idea of saying, I want
to be a doctor, or I want to be a teacher.
Although the demand for these service jobs will
remain important, a better way of preparing our
children for the future is to educate them with
numerous skills and the ability to innovate,
communicate and be comfortable with technology,
rather than concentrating deliberately on one area. (Authored article by Dr Prashant Bhalla Chancellor, Manav
Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies)
Here's the list of few jobs of tomorrow:
1 Commercial Civilian Drone Operators: With
the continued attractiveness of drones, in the future
there will be drones for everything including
delivery services, forensics and filming. Once
drones take over the world, there will be a huge need
for business-related civilian drone worker. This will
necessitate a pilot’s license and supplementary
widespread training and knowledge. In the next few
years, it will not be unusual to see major delivery
airlines using near-pilotless airplanes. Amazon has
already projected the idea of using drones for local
deliveries.
2 Digital Currency Advisor: Whether or not you
are related to Bitcoin, digital currencies are on the
rise as people are becoming untrusting of
government-controlled currency. To make sure you
do not have an informal financial portfolio in the
future, you require soliciting a digital currency
advisor who is well-verse in the crypto currencies to
uphold a diversified portfolio. Skills include a
degree in computer safety and monetary
management.
3 Data Scientist: Data scientist looks to be the IT
job of the moment. But how much of what you’ve
heard is publicity and assumption, and how much of
it is based on reality?
Generally, when something sounds too good to be
true, it probably is. However, the demand for data
science is winning the world by storm, and
companies large and small are demanding to find
workers who can understand and combine data, and
then converse these findings in a way that proves
advantageous to the organisations. By 2020 the
number of Data Science and Analytics job listings is
proposed to grow by approximately 364,000 listings
to approximately 2,720,000 at both well-known
companies and startups.
4 Digital Artists: Digital or multimedia artists use
technology to make their artwork come alive. In
addition to conventional art techniques, such as
drawing and sculpture, digital artists use computer
software to produce 3-D animation, interactive
website graphics, or digitally enhanced photographs.
They may also develop storyboards for animation
scenes and edit animation effects. Digital artists
normally work in motion pictures, software
publishing, and advertising firms.
In adding up to artistic skills, digital artists must be
skilful in the use of computer design programs, such
as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop or Dreamweaver.
Subject to the field, marketing and Web design
ability may also be helpful.
5 Waste Data Managers: To insure data integrity in
today’s fast developing information storage industry;
numerous redundancies have been built into the
system. Achieving more rationalize data storage in
the future will need de-duplication specialists who
can liberate our data centers of unnecessary copies
and playful clutter.
6 Data Hostage Specialists: Holding people as
hostages is very untidy. But holding data hostage is
a less-risky crime that can be done remotely and has
the prospective for far greater rewards. This is
especially true if the country you’re living in
overlooks your actions. This type of movement will
give rise to the likes of data-hostage negotiators,
data-retrieval specialists, and damage-control
analysts.
7 Machine Learning: Machine learning, as a
demand, developed quite rapidly in the most recent
years with new methods, technology, languages,
new frameworks, new things to learn, which made it
very essential for people to be eager to learn. It is a
field basically intended for logical minds. As a
career, it combines technology, math, and business
analysis into one job. Machine learning, much like
any data-driven job, doesn't exist in a vacuum.
Almost all the industry and business has their unique
goals and wants.

The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited,
also known as KPTCL, is the sole electricity
Transmission and distribution company in state of
Karnataka. Its origin was in Karnataka Electricity Board.
This electricity transmission and distribution entity was
corporatized to provide efficient and reliable electric
power supply to the people of Karnataka state.
KPTCL Antharasanhally substation (220/66/11kv) was
commissioned in the year 1994.Here we learnt how the
power is transmitted from high voltage to low voltage i.e.
how we have obtain required range of voltage, what are
the equipments installed to control and monitoring of
power. The equipments are actually huge, even we
cannot imagine that they are like that, after we visiting
only we can see how they look and their installment
along with their ratings. Total power is available here is
300MW and they load about only of 80-85%.About 230-
250MW of power they load to the feeders. We learn
number of equipments like CTs, PTs, lighting arrestor,
circuit breakers, transformers, isolators, bus bars,
capacitor bank along with their functions and need of
these equipments.

Recent trends in Nanomaterials for Energy and
Electronic Applications.
For the healthy living for the present and future
generations, focus is now on the exploration and
administration of sustainable energy systems.
Besides devising materials and methods of
enhancing the efficiency of tapping solar and other
unconventional energy sources, serious attempts are
being made to mine energy from wastes that have
got the consumed energy sunk into them during the
complex contemporary human activities. One of the
best ways is catalytic chemical intervention on
energy-rich industrial and domestic solid wastes and
biomasses in order to produce hydrogen. The
development of new materials has broadened their
utilization into areas where their semi-conducting
and conducting properties have encouraged use in
many novel applications. Nanocomposites are used
in integrated circuits, embedded capacitors,
transistors, lithium ion batteries, light emitting
diodes, information storage, and briefly about liquid
crystal, flat panel displays and ultra large scale
integrated (ULSI) devices.
The present collegiate student community holds a
responsibility of sustainable utilization and
management of energy while equipping itself with
the knowledge and expertise of cost-effective
production and storage of such sustainable energy
from readily available resources. The expert
discussed the research opportunities in the field of
energy and electronic applications using
Nanomaterials. The participants realized the
significance and need for fabrication of
Nanomaterials. The participants have strengthened
the technical knowledge in the domain which will be
helpful in teaching, research and practical
applications.
Honorable Chief Guest Dr. K V Ramanujachary,
Professor of Rowan University addressed the
gathering by giving brief introduction on Nano
materials and its applications. He spoke about his
interview experience at Rowan university where he
was appreciated for his first lecture. He said that it is
important to deliver quality content in the given time
rather than hurrying to finish the planned lecture. He
emphasized on interactive session or group
discussions rather than one sided lecture.
Dr. K S Lokesh, Registrar of JSS STU quoted
“Don’t educate your children to be rich. Educate
them to be happy. So when they grow up, they will
know the value of things, not the price”. He also
told about the importance of emerging Nano
technologies with the example of Synthetic
diamond.
Principal Dr. T N Nagabhushan encouraged to have
such interactive sessions with people from different
Universities so that the students get benefitted. He
also requested the Chief Guest for providing the
fellowships and also for continuous interactions with
students.
