- Time and Effort Commitment !

- Teamwork -- with student partner, veteran and family, teachers-- communicate well, divide responsibilities, proactive

- Planning-- analyze requirements and build a year-long plan-- backward planning-- use recording equipment and transcription software

-- Dragon app for i-phone, pad, pod – free basic version-- Experiment with other available software

- Research and Prepare

Veterans’ Lessons Learned-Communication !

-- contact veteran early and regularly----speak distinctly, slowly, and loud to elderly veterans--- get veteran’s phone and home address--- get alternate phone for spouse or care giver

-- interviews--- face to face at veteran’s home

---- beware of distractions on wall, phone ringing, etc.--- may also be by phone or e-mail due to travel or health

-- explain clearly to veteran each step you take

- Expectations-- very disappointing when students drop out of project-- courteous, prepared, prompt
