Imagine a cat sitting on your lap. See yourself stroking it, see its colour and feel its texture. What colour is the cat?

If you find it hard to visualise the cat, then you need to practice using internal visualising for learning.

Learning MapsCreating a learning map involves using all the important information you need to know, but writing it in a way that is brain-friendly and captures your visual imagination.

Good learning maps use colour, images, symbols and words. These are all brain friendly and stimulate us visually.

Look at these examples…

Create a learning map about YOU

Start in the middle of the page and write ‘ME’ and then add (radiating out from this central point) where you live, what type of house, people in your family, pets, your personality, your hobbies and so on.

Now add as many pictures and drawings as you can.

Create a learning map for a subject you find difficult. Put the main themes on the trunk and branches and all the other ideas on the little twigs that come from them.

It doesn’t matter is it is untidy or not logical, so long as you understand it. Try add as much writing as you can.

Then add as many pictures as you can.
