Using the MSDNAA Software Center
Although the MSDNAA Software Center uses security measures to protect the software
provided, use a virus scanner to check all software downloaded before running the software.
For additional information about the Software Center, see the help system on the Software
Center website.
1. Once you receive an e-mail from the Software Center with your account information, access
the Software Center at http://msdn05.e-academy.com/usmgulf_ba
2. Log in using the account information provided by the Software Center.
The first time you access the Software Center, you should change your password.
2
3. Search for software by (1) typing the name of the software in the search box and clicking
the corresponding Go button or (2) using the search drop-down list to select the software
and clicking the corresponding Go button.
4. Once you locate the desired title, select the Download option and click the Add To Cart
button.
3
5. Read and accept the student use guidelines by clicking the I Agree button.
6. You may continue “shopping” for additional software. Once you have selected all the
software you wish to download, click the Check Out button on the View Shopping Cart page.
4
7. Provide the required customer name and e-mail address. Click the Next button.
8. Click the Download link to access product information and start the download.

downloader is a small program that manages the download of the actual software.

11. Once the downloader finishes downloading, go to the location you specified for the
download. Run the downloader to retrieve the actual software.
12. Specify the location to store the software and click the Continue button.
7
13. The downloader shows the status of the download process. You may terminate the
downloader at any time and resume the download process later.
14. Once the downloader finishes downloading the software, click the Launch Install button to
go to the location of the downloaded software.
8
15. Depending on the software title you select, the downloader downloads an executable
program or a CD file system image called an ISO image file.
Executable Program: You may install the software by running the program.
ISO Image File: You may burn the image to a CD or DVD depending on the image size
using standard CD/DVD burning software such as Roxio. For example,
when using Roxio select the Burn Image option to burn an ISO file to a
disc. This produces a CD or DVD in the same format as a standard
software distribution.
You may use a program such as MagicDisk (available as freeware on
the Tutorials page at http://www.magiciso.com) to mount the ISO file
as if it were an actual CD or DVD. Once you do this, you may access
the mounted ISO file as if you would any CD or DVD in a drive.
