HOW TO SEARCH FOR BOOKS
• Log onto a computer at school or in the IMC
• Double click the “IMC” icon on the desktop
• Click on the “LHS/LMS IMC” link
IF THERE IS NO “IMC” ICON, YOU CAN SEARCH FROM ANY COMPUTER WITH INTERNET ACCESS (EVEN ON YOUR HOME COMPUTER) . . . WE’LL SHOW YOU LATER HOW YOU CAN FIND THE LIBRARY LINK ON THE LHS WEBSITE

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE ITEM IS AVAILABLE TO CHECK OUT?
“1 of 1 available” means there is 1 copy of an item and it is available for check out
“0 of 1 available” means there is 1 copy of an item and it is NOT available for check out
WHAT ELSE MAY SHOW UP ON THE SEARCH LISTING?
Call letters with “REF” indicate reference books and can only be used in the library.You may also reserve items marked “VID” or “DVD” which are videos.
LEFT-TO-RIGHT, TOP-TO-BOTTOM
If you’re having trouble finding your book on the shelf, remember this rule for how books are shelved:
LEFT-TO-RIGHT, TOP-TO-BOTTOM
You start at the left on the top shelf and move to the right until the shelf ends.
Then you go to the next shelf beneath that and do the same--left-to-right, top-to-bottom.
When you get to the end of the bottom shelf, move up to the top shelf of the next section and continue.

When you need materials and the Litchfield Media Center doesn’t have it, you may try Litchfield Public Library (all residents can borrow currently).
We can also borrow materials requested through IHLS (Illinois Heartland Library System)
Deliveries from surrounding libraries comes on Wednesdays and Fridays

HOW TO REQUEST ITEMS FROM IHLS THROUGH THE MEDIA CENTER The first 5 requests are
at no cost to patrons Additional requests
beyond 5 (6 or more) will cost 25 cents per item payable before the request is made
Example: You want to request 8 items for your research paper – 5 are at no cost3 would cost 25 cents each = 75 cents
You would write your name and each item requested completely (full title name and author)For example:
