Dear friend,
Do you know how it feels when someone leaves you without saying good-bye? For sure you do, now I remember that
the same thing happened to you some months ago with your last boyfriend. It is summer here but it feels like winter
in my heart.
It is a hot summer, the hottest in many years, the streets and the pavements are burning. I don’t know what to do. I
sit around. I spend some minutes in the park trying to smile as I see some children happily playing but the air is so
heavy and dry that I just couldn’t do it. I am walking around another corner of this big city.
Everyone is laughing here but I only hear strange voices that are saying something on my mind (What did they say?) they
say things that I can’t understand. It is all confusion inside of me. For most of them, it’s too close to comfort.
This heat is wonderful and I know that he has got happiness right out of hand without me by his side.
It’s a cruel summer! I don’t care about anyone and it is leaving me here doing all on my own. It’s such a cruel
summer
that I say to myself: now you’re gone but you’re not the only one. Anyone can see it, the city is crowded with happy
people, my friends are away because we all have different lives and I’m on my own. It’s too hard to handle! I
wonder if I am going to feel better tomorrow.
Excuse me for complaining so much my dear friend, I really needed to tell someone about all this. I’ve been
thinking of leaving away… I don’t know if it is right…So I gotta get up right now and go on!
Sincerely,
Pam.

Ations by Shel Silverstein
If we meet and I say, "Hi,"That's a salutation. If you ask me how I feel,That's consideration. If we stop and talk a while,That's a conversation. If we understand each other, That's communication. If we argue, scream and fight,That's an altercation.
If later we apologize, That's reconciliation. If we help each other home,That's a cooperation. And all these actions added up Make Civilization.
(And if I say this is a wonderful poem, Is that exaggeration?)
