A Message from our Chairman
ofSUCCESSAs I reflect on my years as Board Chairman, one theme
comes to mind. Even during the most difficult economic times, the generosity of our community
is something special. The willingness and desire of those around us to help one another in times of need - to LIVE UNITED - is nothing short of amazing. This can never be recognized enough. This year the United Way movement across the country celebrates 125 years. Our local United Way traces its roots back to the early 1940’s with The Empty Stocking Fund. From just a few hundred dollars to reaching this year’s goal of $3.25 million - our heritage is strong. Thank you to Bill Davies and his campaign team for the amazing job you did in another difficult economic year. Thank you to the 3,664 volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and made a $653,616 impact on our community through volunteerism. Thank you to our United Way agencies who delivered vital services. Thank you to the staff at United Way for your hard work and dedication to the mission. As you review our Annual Report, take a moment to reflect. This report is just a snapshot of the extraordinary things occurring with United Way’s work to meet the education, basic needs, and health of Northwest Georgians each and every day. The real magic happens when someone like you cares enough to put service above self to mentor a child, deliver a hot meal to homebound elderly, or council a victim of domestic violence. Thank you for being a part of the magic. LIVE UNITED.
