A terrible snow and ice storm happened in China in the year of 2008. The snow and ice storm had affected Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Anhui, and other 10 provinces. About 2,870 people have been hurt and 129 people died. About 485,000 houses were broken. The thickness of snow in Huaibei was more than 10cm. In the Dabie Mountain Area, it was over 25cm. The deepest part of the snow was 50cm. Almost 150,000 passengers were stopped at Guangzhou train station by Jan.26 after a power failure(停电 ) caused by snow. The snow and ice storm had destroyed 44,270,000 mu of vegetables in 20 provinces by February 18. The terrible weather had reduced vegetable output(产量 ) by 38,290,000 tons( 吨 ).
