The City of Edinburgh Council w
ould like to get your feedback on these proposals. This is your opportunity to com
ment,
request changes and provide suggestions for im
provement. The closing
date for comm
ents is 5 January 2016.
Background
The Council is proposing a new
walking and cycling route linking
Roseburn to the Union Canal via a series of bridges over the existing railw
ay lines and Dalry
Road as well as a crossing on
West Approach Road.
This will fill in a key m
issing link betw
een the existing off road netw
orks including the North
Edinburgh path network via
Roseburn Path (NCN1) and the
Union Canal (NCN75).
Also planned is an off road link along the north side of the W
est Approach Road as far asM
orrison Crescent, allowing
safer and more convenient
access to the Morrison Street
area avoiding the Haym
arket junction.

The current route is not suitable for less confident cyclists. The project w
ill overcome m
ajor barriers to m
ovement betw
een the Roseburn Path and the Union Canal including:
> using fairly busy and narrow
streets such as Russell Road
> turning right on busy Dalry
Road; and> crossing the W
est Approach Road via the Telfer Subw
ay.
